It’s Thursday….time to be thankful.
Sometimes I hate my husband’s job. When he is on call he is a nervous wreck waiting for the dang pager to go off. It keeps us from planning family outings with the kids; after all, we can’t leave our house in case the pager goes off. And being on call in the evenings means working nights for the week. The kids go crazy knowing Daddy is just downstairs sleeping and they can’t bother him.
And then there are the phone calls for assistance, even when he isn’t the one on call. And the stress.
I could go on about why his job drives us both crazy, but today I am thankful for it.
I am thankful for my husband’s job because it helps pay the electric, phone, water, and Internet bills.
I am thankful for my husband’s job because it pays our house mortgage each month and gives us a safe place to live.
I am thankful for my husband’s job because it allows me to stay home with our two beautiful children.
I am thankful for my husband’s job because it gives him an opportunity to shine – he is GOOD at his job.
I am thankful for my husband’s job because his boss worked with him so he could go in early (VERY early) so he could get home earlier and help with the kids right after our son was born.
Thank you, dear husband, for working so hard to support our family. And thanks, in advance, for finding a sitter so we can have date night tonight – You deserve a break!

Nope- you are not alone. My hubby works 6 days a week from 4:30am until 6:30pm most days (sometimes all night) I hate (I am sure he does also) that he is never around. I hate that we have to cram EVERYTHING (to do’s, activities with the kids & time alone) in one day… often something has to give and is pushed off to the following Sunday. But as are you- I am thankful his job allows be to be home with our two kids. Enjoy your date night!
