So there we were, all in the kitchen. My dear husband was trying to make salmon patties from instructions I was giving him. (He likes to learn how to cook, and I’m all for it!) There were a few saltine cracker crumbs on the counter where our preschooler was busy helping Daddy by stirring the pink lemonade.
He had given her a tablespoon, so she was only stirring the top portion of the pitcher. I didn’t realize he had done this on purpose, and I made a comment about how she couldn’t really stir it right with that spoon.
Then I noticed a “floaty” on top (probably a cracker crumb by the looks of it). “Oh, there’s a floaty. I bet that will make it taste good,” I said jokingly. Then I borrowed her spoon to fish it out. After I tossed it in the sink, Peanut began to cry.
“What’s wrong?” asked her Daddy.
“Now the lemonade isn’t going to taste good,” she cried between tears.
“Why?” he asked.
I expected her to be upset because I had mentioned her spoon wasn’t able to really stir it and she thought the lemonade needed stirred more.
What I wasn’t expecting was, “Mommy took the floaty out!”
I couldn’t help laughing on that one – one of the many reasons I love my kids.

Funny how that didn’t get the reaction you were thinking it would. Kids are funny sometimes, that is precious!
