Bottle caps, cardboard tubes, broken toys, and colored sand that spilled from a broken sand art craft made at a festival. Those are just a few of the items in the bottom drawer of our craft stand. Yep, I’m a bit of a craft hoarder. But that colored sand made a beautiful spider web craft.
This spider web craft is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. First draw a big spider web on construction paper.
Have your child carefully trace the lines with a paint brush and watered-down glue. This is great practice for hand-eye coordination and learning to write in the future.
After the lines are all traced, have your child pour some colored sand on the paper. (I suggest putting a very small amount of sand in a container to avoid a huge mess.)
Twist and turn the paper gently to completely cover the glue with colored sand. The spider web will appear like magic.
If your child is like mine, they may want to create a spider for their web. You can wait until the glue dries and use a marker to draw the spider, or use the paintbrush and glue to draw a spider and a new color of sand to make the sand stand out.
