Last year for Christmas Santa brought the game Elefun. The preschooler and toddler love running around, trying to catch the butterflies as they fly out of the elephant’s trunk. The game was such a huge hit that we started looking for more great games for preschoolers. I’m sharing our top ten favorite preschooler games with you.
10 Great Games for Preschoolers
At the top of our list are some fun games to get your preschooler moving. There are also plenty of classic board game options for preschoolers.
Elefun — This was our first real game. Not only is it fun to watch little ones run around, trying to catch the butterflies, but it also helps them work on hand-eye coordination and timing their body’s movements.
Bowling Set — I loved my plastic bowling set as a child. This Melissa and Doug one is adorable!
Gator Golf — Kids love hitting the golf ball into the gator’s mouth and having it pop up!
Hungry Hungry Hippos — The kids have this game at Mamaw’s house. They love hitting that lever to get the hippos to eat all the marbles as fast as they can. It is definitely a noisy game, but so much fun!
Boggle Jr. — I love word games! Boggle Jr. is the perfect word game for preschoolers. They can use the word cards and match the letter up to create their words, all the while working on early readings skills and having fun.
Chutes and Ladders — Preschoolers work on counting skills, taking turns, and playing fairly with this classic game. There are lots of variations of this game. We have the superhero version.
Candy Land Game — A classic preschooler board game that teaches young children how to take turns, play fairly, and follow directions.
Don’t Break the Ice — My son got this game as a gift. He loves hitting the blocks of ice with the little hammer. I love that he gets the proprioceptive input he needs and works on fine motor skills, too. (This game is also great for working on sight word skills when kids are older. Just use post-it notes to put words on each ice block.)
Hi Ho Cherry-O — Kids have fun picking fruit while working on math skills in this classic preschooler math game.
Monkeying Around — My mom has this game at her house and the kids love it. Take the plastic monkeys and hang them in the palm tree. How many can you hang before they all come tumbling down?
Whether you’re looking for a fun game to play on family game night, or the perfect preschooler gift, these great games for preschoolers are sure to be a hit.
