After our success in making Play-doh ornaments, I was pretty sure the kids would love baking sugar cookies.
OneDaddy mixed up the dough (After all, he is a great baker!) and we chilled it an hour or so, and then the fun came! I rolled it out, and the kids got to work making delicious sugar cookies!
Then came the hard part, waiting for them to cook and cool off…
Sugar Cookie Recipe:
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups self-rising flour
Mix sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Mix in flour. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough in 1/2 and roll to 1/4″ thickness on lightly floured board. Cut with cookie cutter and sprinkle with sugar. Place on lightly greased baking sheet and bake 7-8 minutes until delicately golden. (It’s suppose to make 5 dozen 2 inch cookies – we made bigger cookies and it was a far cry from 5 dozen! Of course, the preschooler was eating as we made cookies….)
Eat, and enjoy!
