‘Twas the day after Christmas;
Toys scattered the floor.
Littering the living room –
From the tree to the door.
**
The kids were hyped up
On sugar and toys.
I was scrubbing the dishes,
Ignoring the noise.
**
On my long list of chores,
Not much had been done.
Instead of changing sheets,
I watched kids having fun.
**
There was My Little Pony
Visiting the Pet Shop crew,
And a remote control truck
Stopped in for a visit, too.
**
They painted the truck’s nails,
And he went on his way.
A visit with glowing Rapunzel
Made it a magical day.
**
And I mustn’t forget,
Thomas and Friends, too.
With all the new toys,
There was so much to do!
**
Playing together,
The kids had a blast.
Oh, how I wish
This moment would last!

How did you spend your day after Christmas?

I love it. It’s so true. The chaos of the day after has a tendency to drive me crazy, but it’s still a moment to be treasured. Thanks!

Yeah, I go nuts trying to figure out where all the new toys are going… I bought storage units before hand for what I was buying, but then there’s all the toys from grandparents and aunts and uncles… But watching their joy when they wake the next day to find all their gifts still there, priceless.

I’m so impressed that you made it a great poem. I have tried many times to do that, but never get much passed “Twas the night.” LOL It sounds like you had a lovely Christmas. I wish those moments could last too.

Thanks – I actually started it around lunch time, but got stuck half way through – finished once my little distractions were in bed. 🙂
