Cuddly lambs and fluffy baby chicks are favorites when it comes to preschooler Easter crafts.
We had so much fun using cotton balls to make our hand print sheep , that I decided to use cotton balls in another spring craft.
This simple preschooler chick craft is perfect for spring and can be used in pretend play.
Simple Preschooler Chick Craft
Materials Needed:
- Cotton Balls
- Egg Carton
- Yellow Construction Paper
- Wiggly Eyes
- Liquid Craft Glue
- Paintbrush (optional)
Cut the egg holders out of an egg carton. For toddlers and young preschoolers you may want to do this step ahead of time.
Glue one cotton ball inside the egg cup for the chick’s body and another on top of that for the chick’s head. (Tip: Let little ones use a paintbrush to apply the glue to avoid a sticky situation!)
Next glue on simple construction paper beaks and wiggly eyes. (Everything is better with wiggly eyes!)
My daughter chose to “girlie” hers up a bit more with a bit of pink feather tail sticking out of the chick’s shell.
These cotton ball chicks were such a fun preschooler chick craft that the kids each chose to make several. Once they are dry, they are fun for little ones to use in pretend play.

I just love that pink feather tail! So cute! Both my daughters made this chick when they were in preschool, and they just loved their baby chick!

Yep, all the feathers we have are pink – which is just fine by my little girl! And they didn’t have to label whose was whose that way, either. No way little brother wanted a pink feather!
