I mentioned in my letter to Target that my toddler and preschooler love Max and Ruby.
When we went to the library and found Ruby’s Beauty Shop (with Max and Ruby), I just knew they would have fun bringing this book to life (especially my little Peanut!).
After reading the book a few times (after all, any good book is worth reading more than once!), I searched my bleak makeup supplies and prepared our own beauty shop in front of the big mirror in the master bedroom. (I threw an old sheet on the floor to protect the carpet…)
In the book, Ruby’s friend Louise brings over her beauty shop kit and the girls decide Max will be their first customer. Max winds up in a blonde wig they mousse and blow dry into a beehive hair style.
The kids had fun feeling the foamy mousse I sprayed in their hands and then rubbing it in their hair.
Max is also the target of stick on nails – I was excited to find a pack for a buck in the toy section at the dollar store.
Of course no one can style someone else’s hair or makeup with nails that long, so they came off just as quickly as they were put on when the kids decided it was my turn “in the chair.”
I got a manicure of yellow polish by the preschooler, and the toddler chose white for my pedicure…
It was hard to get away from my makeup artist, but eventually she paused long enough to snap a picture of me.
Have you ever had a make over day with your kids?
