“Now dancing: Rose Petal Sparkle!” announced my daughter as she ran across the kitchen in her pink floral leotard and purple tu-tu.
Kitchen chairs had been carefully placed against the cabinets for her audience (her little brother and myself, along with a few select stuffed animals) to sit on and watch the grand performance.
“Rose Petal Sparkle” danced and twirled about the kitchen, making an occasional run to the living room to jump from the couch cushion’s and race back to the kitchen.
“Our next dancer is the prima ballerina, Pink Sparkle!” she then announced. Again, she twirled and ran across the kitchen floor while her audience looked on.
I never anticipated that the performance would last over 20 minutes. Nor did I expect that her 3 year-old brother would sit patiently on the wood chair, watching every move.
It was a precious moment, one that I am thankful I was able to witness, as she is growing up way too fast for this mommy. (And I am doubly thankful because I was able to capture at least part of it on video to watch years from now.)
This post was inspired by the prompt: “Write a post, poem, or story that somehow incorporates the word: Sparkle” from Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop.

What a beautiful scene. It is lovely to watch your children blossom, and lovlier still when one child appreciates the other’s performance. May you be blessed with many more special moments, and the ability to enjoy them!

Thank you. I hope they continue to grow up wanting to support each other and watch each other’s performances…

My babygirl is in middle school now. She’s into theater, so I do still get to see her perform…but oh, I miss those tutu-clad, couch jumping days.

Yes, there is something about little girls and sparkles! 😉
Malika Bourne says
Is the the little girls fascination or is it because we always dreamed of sparkles?
OneMommy says
Either way, my little one loves sparkles!
