Okay all you moms with daughters out there, ever notice how the hair supplies seem to multiply all on their own?
It starts out with a couple innocent bow clips for their little baby hair, then a few tangle-free mini rubber bands for those tiny little pony tails… And the next thing you know you can’t close the medicine cabinet because headbands and barrettes keep tumbling out faster than you can shut the door!
Until recently we had hair twisters in baggies in the medicine cabinet, headbands in the dress-up drawer of my daughter’s room, and barrettes probably in every room of the house. I really wanted to have all the supplies in one convenient place. I tried using some little storage containers to put them in the medicine cabinet, but the headbands did not want to cooperate, and the rest of it just took up too much room.
And then I found my answer in my morning cup of caffeine….
The large cocoa can was just the right size to slide those headbands on, and there was plenty of room for all the other goodies to go inside it.
So I grabbed some colorful gift bags and the glue gun and got to work!
After wiping the empty container down with a damp paper towel to get the last bits of cocoa out, I measured, cut, and glued the gift bag paper to the outside of the can.
Once I was finished, my daughter had a cute way to keep all her hair supplies together and easily accessible. (After all, you never know when you might need to change your look or add a bow!)
And the best part?
I don’t have barrettes and headbands falling out of the medicine cabinet every time the door is opened.

Thanks so much for sharing this idea. Maybe now I can wrangle in the mess of hair supplies!

They could each have their own!
I don’t have a daughter, but I can see how hair clips and bands can get all over. I swear mine hide on purpose.

Yes, when I had longer hair I had tons of hair stuff that I’m sure was probably everywhere…
What a GREAT idea!! My girls hair stuff is piling up over here!!! I just have a big basket and another bigger basket to hole the mess in… this is just lovely! SO creative.

Isn’t it funny how the hair stuff just seems to multiply on its own? I couldn’t believe how many items we got at Christmas time to add to her collection!
Great idea. I love getting and being organized!

Now if I could just get the rest of the house organized…. LOL.
What a cute idea! I have 2 daughters and really need to do this (and I just realized I threw away the perfect can for it!). The two drawers in their bathroom are full of hairbands, clips, etc.!!!

I thought about using the drawer in the kids’ bathroom, but it is currently filled with books for the little boy to read while he is “deep in thought”…
I’m sure another can will come your way!
I almost couldn’t do the math problem.
Just kidding. This is so smart. My 8 year old has hair stuff EVERYWHERE. Thanks for sharing. I’d love you to link it up on my Moments of Genius linkup!

Great idea and a great way to recycle. I just reorganized my girls’ hair clips this week as well … we’re trying a color coded system now!
