Valentine’s Day Heart Animals Craft

The Christmas decorations are down, and the doors are looking pretty bare.  It’s been gloomy and rainy, and the excitement of new Christmas toys has worn down.

What better time to start making some cute Valentine’s decorations?

I prepped for the activity by cutting out lots and lots of hearts in various sizes and colors.

Last year we made some cute “heart kitties,” and both of my little crafters wanted to make some again.  preschooler Valentine's Day craft

Monkey was so happy with his little cat…  He kept calling it his baby kitty.  valentine's toddler craft

After making her kitty, my 5 year-old decided to try making a dog.

It turned out pretty cute! dog made of hearts

By the end of our crafting time, we had 2 cats, a dog, a pretty funny alien, a snake, and a butterfly made from hearts.

We still have plenty of hearts left… I can’t wait to see what they come up with next time!

Any suggestions?

  5. I can’t stand how plain and dull my house looks after the Christmas decorations come down…even though I am ready the day after Christmas to take them down. I love that you are already working on putting some life back onto the walls.

    1. The house does seem dreary after all the Christmas decorations come down… And it’s just been dreary outside; a pop of color is just what the house needs!
