Thankful Thursday — Funny Kids

They say laughter is good medicine.  And I think kids write the best prescriptions….

This week I’m thankful for the things my kids have done and said that made me laugh.

My daughter was hard at work at the kitchen table.  “How do you spell ‘slippery’?” she asked.

I carefully spelled it for her.

Then she asked how to spell ‘floor.’  By then she had my interest.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

Turns out she was making a sign for the floor.  She had spilled some water, and evidently to a 5 year-old it is easier to make a detailed sign to let people know the floor is wet than to wipe it up with a towel.

funny things kids do

Don’t you love the look on the girl’s face?

Got to love it.

Then there is my son.  Daddy was helping him back into his clothes for bedtime, and he said, “I need my funderwear.”

It sounded a lot like “fun to wear,” and you know, with superheroes all over them, I bet they are fun to wear.  (I see a great marketing thing here, if someone wants to jump on it, we just want a little cut for the 3 year-old’s college fund…)

What funny things have your kids said or done this week?  I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

And, as always, if you have your own thankful post this week, be sure to link it up with us!  I love to see the list grow!

  1. i love this story, kids do the strangest things.

Do you find when asked by a kid for the spelling of a word you almost forget how to spell it, I always feel unsure spelling anything out loud to my son!

    1. Oh, I certainly do! I can’t spell unless I write it down… I find myself second guessing everything I spell for her!

  2. Haha she’s so cute! Kids say the funniest things! It’s so nice of her to inform everyone she spilled water on the floor.

    1. I just thought it was funny how much detail she put on the sign instead of just cleaning it up!

  3. Thanks for the smile. I think I should get me some ‘fun to wear’ jammies too!

    1. LOL — I should have specified he meant his underwear…. Sometimes I love what comes out of their mouths!

  4. I love your new favicon! Hurray!

Your kids are so cute! I was just hugging my five year old today and telling her she’s growing up too fast.

    1. Thanks! I tried a bunch of different things, but when it shrinks down… I decide a 1 was the way to go. Your lemon one is adorable.

I need to hug mine more (she is NOT the huggy type like her brother is).

  5. I never forgot a few years ago my son had seen a deodorant commercial on TV and a few days later he was sitting on my knee whilst taking a bus into the city. Suddenly he leans over to a rather large lady sitting next to us and says “Have you got BO?” (Body Odor) The look she shot at me would have sizzled me up – except I was struggling too hard keep a straight face.

    1. Oh my goodness! I love it!
Kids always say what’s on their minds…sometimes it is to our embarrassment. :)

  6. When my youngest son was about two i had him in the buggy, We went to the bank and stood in line, then he started giggling, to my horror i could see that he was pulling the stockings of the elderly lady standing in front of us, He must have thought she had stretchy legs, She didn’t seem to mind thankfully. It is certainly a episode i havent forgotten.
