We had been up all night — most of it filled with cries and screams from my four year-old that just tore at my heart. All he would do was point at his head; his screams letting us know that something was definitely not right. Now, at the urging of our family doctor, we were on our way to the emergency room.
The roads were empty at that early morning hour as we drove. I kept assuring my little one that the doctors would help him and he’d soon feel better.
As parents we hate to see our children in pain. And, if you’re like me, it’s easy to let your imagination get the best of you.
We were blessed by an empty emergency room and were able to be seen immediately. By then my son had stopped screaming enough to answer a few questions.
Although he was adamant that his ears did NOT hurt, the doctor soon discovered they were both quite infected.
We left with a prescription for an antibiotic and information regarding the proper dosage of TYLENOL® for his weight. Although I had given him something for pain during the night, it wasn’t the proper dosage. I was so relieved that it was just an ear infection, and I was also happy to find that the proper dose of TYLENOL® helped relieve his pain.
There is just nothing like that first “feel better smile” when your child has been suffering!
I am Smiling It Forward with TYLENOL® to help ensure that a doctor’s visit is within reach for underprivileged children via the Children’s Health Fund, an organization with a fleet of mobile medical units across the country.
You can help, too, by sharing a photo of something that makes you smile on SmilingItForward.com between September 17, 2013 and January 31, 2014.
During that time the makers of TYLENOL® will make a $1 donation to Children’s Health Fund for every photo approved & shared on SmilingItForward.com, with a minimum donation of $75,000 and maximum donation of $100,000.
