We’ve been having so much fun with our learing activities with vehicles.
For letter “L” activities we chose 2 vehicles to focus on: lifeboats and limousines.
Letter “L” Activities
Before we started, I found these great life boat coloring sheets and printed out a copy for each child.
I turned the coloring sheets into a color by number sheet for my preschooler. This is simple to do. Just place a number in each blank spot of the picture. Then make a color-key in the corner so your child knows what color each number should be colored.
For older children, you can use sight words or math facts on the coloring page.
Once they finished coloring, we worked on addition.
I found some simple lifeboat and limousine images online and printed out a page of each of them. Then I cut them out to use for several of our letter “L” activities.
I used a white board to make them some individualized practice.
After we had erased the boards and done several sets of addition problems, I let them come up with their own problems. I love that they challenged themselves! Gone were the simple problems and they chose to add double digits. So fun!
By then it was time for a snack.
I had some circular fruit cereal that I called “life floats” and had them thread their life floats onto pipe cleaners, giving them a little fine motor practice along the way. (Did you notice that we used a lifeboat to put them in instead of a bowl?)
After munching on their life float bracelets, it was time to use some of those limousine images I had printed out for a little game.
I actually re-used the same packing paper from our Runway Jet Game.
My preschooler and kindergartner took turns rolling the game die and moving their paper limousines up the board, one orange line at a time until they got to the finish line.
By then they were ready for our final activity.
I had drawn out a large “L” for the preschooler to cut out; my kindergartner drew her own letter to cut.
Once they had them cut out, they used the paper lifeboats and limousines to create a letter collage using the vehicles that start with “L.”
