It’s been a while since we pulled out the play dough. With the super cold temperatures we’ve had, it was the perfect time to get it out for some pretend play. And what better use than to make some pretend play cookies for our Cardboard Box Sweet Shop?
I pulled out the accessories need to make cookies: rolling pins, some cute cutters, and of course some play dough!
The kids had fun rolling out the dough and cutting shapes.
(Can you tell this is our art table?)
Of course, cookies are more fun with sprinkles! I thought about using glitter at first, but then decided on using some of our colored sand. The texture is more like real sugar sprinkles, and it’s a little easier to clean up then glitter.
The preschooler enjoyed getting pinches of the colorful “sugar” to coat each cookie.
We put the cookies on trays and even put them in the oven for a few minutes to “bake” before serving them to our furry customers.
Pretend play is always fun, and this one was especially sweet!
What are some of your favorite ways for pretend play with the kids?

Great idea using sand instead of glitter! My girl’s just barely used Playdoh for the first time this past Christmas and it’s easily become one of our favs! Thanks for sharing on Sunday FUNday!
