Around here we are still having fun with some great Dr. Seuss activities, but the preschooler and I have also found time to continue our vehicle alphabet series with some fun Letter Q Activities.
I like to come up with different ways for us to practice writing the letters.
This time around I wrote out the letters with a highlighter. Then, instead of having the preschooler trace them with pencil or crayon, I got out the water color paints and had him trace them with a Q-tip! (There just aren’t too many things that start with Q, but this one was perfect for some fun writing!)
After tracing the letters, we talked about the sound the letter Q makes. Then we named a few words that started with the letter Q.
Earlier I had cut an upper and lower-case letter Q out of black construction paper and taped them to the floor. The preschooler used his quarry truck to trace the letters. He had fun tracing them quickly. He also traced them quietly.
Then it was time to visit the quarry!
This was, by far, his favorite activity of the day!
I had hidden 10 quarters beneath the gravel, and it wasn’t long before he started finding them.
Of course, then we had to count the quarters!
He had me bury the quarters 5 more times, enjoying the search every single time.
I have to say letter Q activities weren’t the easiest to come up with, but now that we’ve gotten past Q, we will be rocketing off with the letter R in the near future!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Anything Goes linky!
My preschooler and toddler would love these ideas! We practice drawing letters on each other backs with our fingers. They seem to really love that. My son would like to find quarters through the bucket – fabulous idea. Using it! Have a super weekend!
