Over the summer I am hoping to really work on those early reading skills with the kids. Sight word practice at home is so important! And since it’s summer, I’ve got all kinds of outdoor ideas popping to mind! This weekend the ideas were popping in the literal sense — with the help of Pop-Its (Also called snap-pops and snap caps).
This is a sight word game that really gets the kids moving!
Directions for Sight Word Bang!
Use sidewalk chalk to write a variety of sight words on the driveway. (You can even have the kids help write them!)
When you call out a sight word, your little reader needs to find it and stand on it. If they’re right, they get a Pop-It to throw on the ground.
If they go to the wrong word, offer them clues to help them try again.
