Confession time: as a mom it is easy for me to get lost in the daily monotony of dishes, laundry, and taking care of kids. It’s easy to overlook all the things my husband does for us on a daily basis. This year I’ve decided to surprise him with 14 days of love notes, starting February 1. (Similar to the Valentine’s Day tradition I do with the kids.)
We’re all busy, right? But this is a super simple Valentine’s Day activity. To make it even easier, cut all your hearts out ahead of time. Use very thick construction paper or colorful card stock to keep your hearts looking nice over time.
Next, use a permanent marker to write a short love note or poem on each heart. I chose to write about all the simple things my husband does that I sometimes take for granted, like making pancakes on the weekends and baking the world’s best brownies from scratch. It may be tempting to write your notes as you go each day, but writing them all now means you won’t forget a day!
Starting on February 1, surprise your loved one with one of your love notes. You can tuck it in their laptop, stick it on the steering wheel of the car, or if you want to shower them with all the love notes to see in one location, tape them to the vanity mirror in the bathroom. It will be one of the first things they see each morning.
It’s easy to get caught up in all the mundane tasks of being a mom, but this year I’m making sure my husband knows how important he is in our lives.
