With two small children and one income, my husband is constantly redoing finances, looking to see where we can save, trying to figure out how to save for college… As a SAHM I am blessed by the hand-me-downs we receive for both our kids.
I am lucky enough to have a brother with a daughter a couple years older than my own. And although he doesn’t think about bringing clothes our way all the time, my mom thinks about it and collects the things she outgrows, saving them for my little Peanut. I also have a friend that has given us a few cute pieces… Every piece is appreciated.
Today I had the pleasure of visiting with my best friend (since elementary school); she has 2 boys who are both older than my own, and a new baby girl. Swapping clothes (I get her old boy clothes, she gets my old girl clothes) just makes sense. We came home with a garbage bag full of great clothes for Monkey; the best part is that most of them have cars, trains, or some other vehicle on them. (My little guy is obsessed with cars!)
I’m sure there will come a time when my kids either won’t want to wear hand-me-downs, or the availability will be more limited, but right now I am thankful for each generous offer of “new” clothes.
What are you thankful for this week?

I love hand-me downs for kids! I, too, wonder when my children will start putting their foot down on wearing them but I love that it saves money and puts clothes to good use for as long as possible. Until my kids protest I will keep using hand-me-downs and consignment sale clothing. Great post!

I always love to get hand-me downs. I don’t get them often but it is always nice. I give my daughters clothes to freinds I know can use them, it is always fun and my daughter loves it when my girlfriends daughter gives her stuff becuase she is into more glitter and sparkles than I have ever purchased. Have fun with the loot!

I agree that hand-me-downs are awesome! My girls rarely get a brand new outfit, and they just know that is the way we live. I know one day we will hit the wall, and we’ll hear the argument for new clothes, but for now I’ll enjoy that I can reason with them that if we spend money on clothes we won’t have it for the “extras.” My girls seem to “get” that and accept it- for now. They are 8 and 10, so I don’t think that will last much longer. I’m hoping, though!
This week I am thankful that I was released from the hospital on Sunday and that my emergency trip back to the ER Monday night did not result in another admission. I am also thankful that hospital food is not as bad as I’ve always heard!

I am thankful too. You are responsible for at least half of my little bunny’s wardrobe. Your stuff is soooo cute. Oh yeah, and it was fun hanging out with you too. Lol!

Thanks for stopping by and for the follow! I love consignment shops, too! Whenever we need shoes, that’s where we tend to go… I wrote an earlier post on the, actually called Once Upon a Thankful Thursday.

Stopping from Mom Loop! JDaniel has wonderful hand me downs from my sisters. We rarely have to buy him clothes or shoes.

I so wish I had some friends or family like this! I have all sorts of acquaintances that I could give my son’s clothes to, but no one to give us any! That cycle doesn’t work for my pocketbook very well!!
