Did you know that this week was Fire Safety Week?
What perfect timing for our next letter in our vehicle alphabet series! Of course, I mean “F” Is for Firetruck!
My preschooler was super excited about this particular letter. After all, every little boy loves firetrucks!
He loves to use his number cards to count his vehicles!
But what really had his attention was something I had taped to the floor….
Right away he just KNEW it had to be a fire fighter ladder! (Thank you to JDaniel4’s Mom for such a creative idea!)
He spent time climbing the ladder on his hands and knees. Then we practiced jumping in the squares a variety of ways. (He is really into jumping over lines lately!)
Then it was time to do some fire fighting of our own!
I asked him to leave the room for a minute and made a path of capital and lowercase “F’s” to follow to a tissue paper fire. To make it a bit trickier I put in other letters veering off the path; only the right path led to the fire!
He had so much fun that he asked to do it again.
I loved that he took the initiative to make a few more capital “F” post-it notes when he ran out.
This was certainly one of his favorite activities we’ve done; I’m sure we will be doing it again!
We ended our “F” Is for Firetruck fun by practicing our fire drill. If you haven’t practiced yours lately, this is the perfect time!
