So we all know you have to be careful with what you say when you are around children, no matter what age, really. I mean, you don’t want to be the one sitting in church when your kid lets out some four letter word they overheard you say. And then there’s those statements like, “Mommy, is that the crazy lady that lives next door?” that you don’t want you kid saying when you first meet the neighbors (even if they do scream all night at their goats and you swear they must be nuts).
But last night at dinner I learned I also have to be careful with some pretty innocent comments as well. My kids both love yogurt, and they were enjoying some for dessert. That’s when I noticed my daughter’s long blond hair was trailing the edge of her bowl. “Be careful, Peanut, you’re going to get yogurt in your hair,” I cautioned. After all, both kids had just had baths that morning, and neither is fond of getting their hair washed.
No sooner had I said those words I saw Monkey take his spoon of yogurt and rub it all over the top of his head! “No, no! Mommy told Peanut NOT to get it in her hair, sweetheart!” By then he was on his second spoonful. Of course his sister thought this was great, and her giggling encouraged him to continue. I guess I should be thankful that she listened to me when I warned her not to do what he was doing, and for the kitchen faucet sprayer, which I used to hose off his hair afterward…

Haha! That’s something my boys would do too! At that point I can’t do anything but laugh, if not at them then definitely at my own bad luck!

Oh yeah, I was laughing as I took the pics! And as we sprayed his hair off! My luck he’ll do it again b/c Mommy thought it was so funny the first time!

isn’t it amazing what they pick up, I’ve given my darlings some great ideas! Tip, don’t ever say “don’t jump off …..” unless you want to spend some time in an ER! Lol!

Oh, I totally see this happening at my house in the not-so-distant future! I hadn’t thought to use the sink sprayer for quick hairwashes, though. Genius!

Ha! Sometimes you just gotta laugh, I guess. Oy. My 2 year old pretty much understands when I say “don’t,” but I’m almost sure he’d do the opposite just to be funny! LOL!
