Carving Pumpkins

October 30, 2013 by OneMommy

Yesterday we finally got around to carving our pumpkins.

In years past the kids have enjoyed painting their pumpkins, but this year they armed themselves with permanent markers to design their pumpkins.carving pumpkins

I tried to remind them to draw their designs big enough to cut…

The kindergartner not only drew a wonderful face, but she also tried her hand at carving her pumpkin by herself, for the first time.carving pumpkins

I love the mini kid-friendly saws from this (Amazon affiliate link) pumpkin decorating kit for pumpkin carving!  Much safer than the usual knife we use.

She is super proud of her creation.  (And so am I!)

By the end of our pumpkin carving escapades, we had a dragon, spider in a web, and 2 Jack-o-lanterns to decorate the porch with.

Did you decorate pumpkins this year?  How were they decorated?

Oh they turned out so cute! I don’t have kids and I didn’t cut my pumpkins, I just put them on the steps of the porch. I hope you guys have a great & safe Halloween.

Thank you! My youngest told me he wanted a dragon, and it completely threw me for a loop. Thankfully he was happy with the result. 🙂
