Cotton Ball Snowman #Craft

January 6, 2012 by OneMommy

After the fun they had making simple construction paper snowmen, I was excited to let the kids experiment with something new – cotton balls!

At 4, Peanut is a pretty good drawer, so I had her draw her own snowman on paper.cotton ball craftThen I ran glue inside one circle and gave her a handful of cotton balls, telling her to cover the circle with them.  She had fun with the fluffy white balls – stretching them and experimenting with them as she crafted.

I drew my 2 year old’s snowman for him, making sure to smear his bottom circle with glue so he could fill it up with cotton balls.winter toddler craftHe didn’t like the fact that the cotton balls stuck to his glue-covered fingers, but eventually he filled in the circle and got excited about how his snowman was looking.

Once the snowmen were covered with cotton balls I got out the “extras”:  google eyes and pieces of felt.

They had fun selecting eyes to glue on and telling Mommy what color mittens, scarves, and hats they wanted for their snowmen.

And they turned out super cute!

]I couldn’t wait for them to dry so we could hang the artwork up for everyone to see.  And it’s just in time, too, since we’re beginning to take the Christmas artwork down and the doors are looking kind of bare…

Best use I’ve had of them… We’ve had the bag since my oldest was born (4 yrs. now); time to use them up!

They had fun doing it… Little ones have a hard time waiting for snow. We live in Ohio, and usually have had some by now, but I’m not complaining! Just hope it doesn’t decide to snow in March or April now!

Thanks! I fell in love with the finished products! Now the question is where to store them when I do take them down… b/c I can’t think of tossing them!

This is a great idea. And, since we are stuck in tomorrow with snowday #2 … this will be perfect!
