Giving Thanks for My Kitchen — Thankful Thursday

January 24, 2013 by OneMommy

When we were looking at house designs, there was one thing I knew I wanted:  a big country kitchen.  I envisioned beautiful oak cabinets, a big window to let in plenty of sunlight, and a place to show off the china that had previously been hidden away out of sight.

This is what I got:Thankful Thursday 1/24

Each day as I watch the setting sun paint the sky brilliant golds and pink through the kitchen windows, I smile.

I love the daisy details on the yellow curtains…I have the same design on the cabinet knobs and on the hanging ceiling lights.

I love my garden window. See the crystals hanging from the curtain rod? They cast beautiful rainbows through the kitchen every evening.

I love the openness, being able to talk to people sitting in the living room while I cook, having plenty of room for Hot Wheel races on the laminate flooring.

And I love being able to see my china each day.

I’m thankful for the soft yellow walls that make the room seem cheery each day, the extra space for family pictures on top of the cabinets, and the laughter that often fills the room.

What room in your house are you most thankful for?

Thanks! I’m off to ready your latest post, although I admit it — I don’t even know who is in the Superbowl this year!

Lovely! Having a kitchen space that is enjoyable to be in is so important, I agree.

Oh, your kitchen is so big and airy! As moms, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen, don’t we? I would change a few things about my kitchen, but it’s also one of my favorite rooms in the house.

I do spend some time there, so it’s nice to be able to check on the kids in the living room so easily… One reason we made the living room the play area originally, although I am ready to move them somewhere else! 🙂

oh what a beautiful and lovely place to call your own!!!! I would just sit at that table and drink some coffee and join in on the JOY and laughter too! So nice to see where you spend your days… 🙂
