Green Giant Seasoned Steamers #Giveaway

October 28, 2012 by OneMommy

Confession time:  I am NOT good at planning dinner ahead of time.

I’m talking, it’s 5:30 and we usually eat at 6:00, what the heck should I make, kind of not planning.

Result?  We eat spaghetti at least once a week.  (Hence, the spaghetti casserole I came up with…)

It also results in the same boring side dishes night after night.

That’s one reason I was excited to try Green Giant Seasoned Steamers when I first heard about them.  Finally a sauce-free frozen vegetable with a little zip to excite the taste buds!  Green Giant has developed 6 tantalizing flavors to choose from:  Mediterranean Blend, Tuscan Seasoned Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts with Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper, Honey Roasted Sweet Corn, Honey Dijon Carrots and Backyard Grilled Potatoes.

This past week, as I was searching the freezer for inspiration, I saw the bag of Tuscan Seasoned Broccoli and pulled it out.  I have to say, being able to cook the veggies right in their bag almost made me feel guilty because of how easy it was.

Green Giant vegetable review

In minutes I had a delicious side dish prepared for my family.  (The pork chops that I pulled out of the freezer were another issue…)

And the critics?

My husband and daughter loved it!  (My husband’s actual words were, “This is good!!”)

She ate them so fast I could hardly get a picture!

My son is more the “don’t put anything on my food” kind of guy.  He ate it, but only if I held it for him because he didn’t want to touch the seasoning with his 3 year-old picky little fingers.  (After all, you can’t expect him to use a fork to eat “trees.”  Anyone else’s kid like that?)

The next time I go to the store I’m planning to pick up a package of the Mediterranean Blend; it definitely sounds like a step up from our usual canned green beans or corn…

My husband is the cook of the family, so if he’s not around it’s a lot of last minute spaghetti type dinners. These steamers look great.

Thanks for visiting my blog on my SITS Day!

My husband is the cook on the weekends… I need to be a better cook during the week, and these veggies might just help that a bit.

Frozen veggies are my friend in the winter! But like your son, I usually prefer them plain or mixed with a sauce I make myself.

I usually like mine plain, too. But these were seasoned just the right amount — and pretty yummy!

We still have trouble getting my 5 year old to eat with a fork!

I’m a last minute planner for dinner, too. These vegetables sound yummy!

LOL- You’ll notice my 5 year-old was shoving the broccoli in with her fingers, too. She just wasn’t concerned about the seasoning getting on her fingers like her brother was. 🙂
