Dishes spilling over the edge of the kitchen sink.
More dishes littering the countertops.
Mountains of laundry blocking the door to the laundry room and falling out of the clothes hamper in the bedroom.
And then there’s all the toys making it impossible to walk a straight line through the living room.
This is the state of our house at the end of the week when my husband is working nights.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I do dishes during the week, usually after dinner when he is no longer sleeping and the noise won’t disturb him. But somehow the dishes seem to multiply on their own, and by the end of the week mini towers of dirty dishes have appeared.
And I catch up all the laundry before the week he works nights, but let’s face it, with 4 people wearing clothes, some who go through more than one (or two) outfits a day, the laundry also seems to get out of hand that week.
(Okay, I admit it, the toys all over the floor are an every day occurrence.)
This week it was a double whammy to me as I looked around the basement before my husband climbed into the bed down there, and I was reminded of the disaster under the stairs.
It seems I always start off doing great with my spring cleaning list, but this one area… There are a million things I’d rather do than tackle it.
Do you have an area like this around your house? Something that it’s impossible to gain the motivation to organize?
Me? I’m hoping that the cleaning fairies will come visit the little fairy house out in the herb garden and decide to sneak in and voila – take away all the mess.

When you are done with the cleaning fairies, can you please send them to NJ? LOL! Yes I know what it is like to have a cleaning project that you would rather do ANYTHING but tackle it. For me it would be the basement too. I have some things that I really should be doing – yup I said should not am doing 🙂
My dishes don’t usually pile up, but my kids are a little older and are able to rinse their dishes off. The toys on the other hand, we won’t even go there!!

It’s nice to know I’m not the only one whose basement is going to remain a mess a little bit longer.
I usually can keep up with the dishes, it’s just those weeks the husband is on nights that they tend to pile up. My little girl likes to help unload the dishwasher – I’d love for her to keep that positive attitude when she gets older and help by rinsing them off. 🙂

Boxes of homeschooling records of kids who have already graduated– all their books, papers, accomplishments, etc. That’s only one example. I have multiple potential cleaning/organizing projects around here.

Sometimes it’s hard to get rid of things our kids did – even those little mundane things like school work!

Headed over your way now – usually it’s just the weeks the husband works nights that I feel so overwhelmed… But I could use some motivation for that basement!

To be honest, my craft room is beginning to look like this as I run farther and farther behind.

That is EASY to do – so hard to find time to finish projects we start!
