Indoor Snow

February 25, 2011 by OneMommy

First, let me say, that although I like snow, in the sense that it makes everything look clean and pretty, I am REALLY done with it this season. I am tired of the cold, the ice, and the mess that occurs with a dog that loves to go in and out in it all day long.

That being said, I also know how much the kids love it… And when my daughter woke up this morning and saw the dusting we had on the ground and couldn’t wait for me to come look out the window with her, I knew I would have to get them some snow time today. After all, it’s the end of February, and the snow should be coming to an end, right?

The problem was that even though we ate breakfast quickly and everyone got dressed, the snow was starting to melt faster than we’d be able to get out in it. And then there was the mud. It poured all last night before turning to rain, and the melting snow was just adding to the muck beneath it.

What’s a mommy to do? There really wasn’t enough snow to fill a large container for them to play in, which I’ve done before (thank God for unfinished basements), so I pulled out the edged cookie sheets and brought in a bucket full, and the rest was pure fun for two kids who love snow. Definitely a favorite for the kids for this Friday!

Bummer, if it’s going to snow in February, it should at least stick around a bit. It sure is pretty though!

So clever! There is something about water in all forms that kids are naturally drawn to. We have major water clean up at least once a week for “experiments” that go awry. They also love to freeze their action figures, so I often come across an unhappy smurf next to the fish sticks.

I love the action figure in the freezer… Actually, we have something similar here… Somehow we have the invisible lady in our freezer (I think a friend of mine stuck it in there as a joke, and we never took it out.)
