Morning Sounds

November 7, 2013 by OneMommy

Giggling.

Pitter-pattering of feet racing across the kitchen floor.

The dog barking, as she chases her tail, excited by all the commotion.

The ding of the microwave, telling me that my mug of cocoa is ready.

These are the sounds that filled our house this morning.

A welcome difference to the past two mornings — both hectic.  Both full of “I know; I know!!!!!!!!”  “I don’t want to wear THIS coat!!!!”   “Wahhhh!”

For the laughter and the happy sounds this morning, I am thankful.

How precious those peaceful moments in the morning are.

What sounds have filled your house today?

I heard chattering in the boys’ room this morning and they were reading too!

Lovely. I suppose I enjoyed the quiet, so I can rest. However, I must admit- I am ready to get back out into the world and engage. Apparently, my body is in charge- not my spirit. Sigh…

It is so hard when we want to do things, or feel like we should be doing things, but our bodies feel differently. Almost impossible to shut our brains down, isn’t it?

      Rest up!

Sounds of my teens saying good morning. Sounds of the trash truck making its rounds. Sounds of squirrels climbing on my roof top off my trees. Sounds of my teenagers smacking muffins I baked. Sounds of boxes being shuffeled around for our move. Sounds of my teen typing on keyboard for her lesson. Sounds of her clicky pencil while I help her with grammar lessons as she makes corrections. Sounds of the shower going. Sounds of Good bye mom from both kids as they head out the door to visit Grandpop.
