Painting Garden Stones

May 25, 2012 by OneMommy

I admit it; we haven’t done a lot of crafting since our turtle puppets…  With the beautiful spring weather, and the heat of summer quickly approaching, we’ve been soaking up every minute we can doing things outside.  Picnics, parks, running around outside…

No one acted like they even missed it, but the way my little boy’s eyes lit up when I announced we were doing a craft today tells me otherwise.

It wasn’t a very involved craft, just a couple “paint them yourself garden stones” I picked up in the dollar area of my Target store.  They could have been finished in minutes, but my artists opted to soak up every glorious painting moment.

Target Dollar area
Peanut was very serious about her work.

My little guy started off painting his ladybug’s spots very carefully.  But then he got a little yellow on the blue and was excited to find green!  After that it became a color-mixing experiment…  “What’s red and green make?”  He tried different combinations over and over and over…  Target store craftI wanted to get in on the fun a little too, so I unwrapped a balloon weight from little guy’s recent birthday and started painting. At the end, we had 3 very wet, and unique garden stones just waiting to be placed outside.

And, after all their excitement, I will be sure not to overlook our craft time from now on!
