Yes, the devastation has been overwhelming. It is always hard to see people suffering and feel you can’t do much about it.

I am more afraid of storms now that they seem to be causing so much damage. We have a lot of trees by our house and I’m always worried about them falling on the house! Good to know – I was thinking as they got older and were able to get out of their rooms it would ease up; those protective instincts are hard to reign in in the middle of the night!

I was never afraid of storms before I had them but when they were babies my protective instincts were very strong. The good news is that as they got older it went away and I no longer worry about it unless the grandkids are in the house:) Actually now that the grandkids are older it isn’t as much of an issue as when they were babies either:)

Of course, in reality, that would be the course of action. But at 2 a.m., lying awake with my husband sleeping at my side, the logic of having 2 parents and 2 kids to grab didn’t quite compute.
