That’s it exactly. I think we always want a little better for our children than we felt we had. Since I feel I missed out a little with my grandparents I am always thankful that my children have such a close relationship to their grandparents.

It’s funny what we treasure, isn’t it? I love that there were 7 pieces and 7 granddaughters – I bet each cherishes her piece in her own way.

I have a lone fork that belonged to my grandmothers mother. I never met her as she passed away before I was born. I can’t explain it, but I just treasure that thing! There were seven pieces of her silverware set left and ironically there happened to be seven granddaughters when my grandma passed away. We each got a piece.

If it has anything to do with Ash & Bean…they are on it! I don’t have that many great memories with my grandparents either but I know my girls will. It always amazes me at how happy I am when I see how happy my girls are with my parents. It overwhelms me at times! Great post!

Making plans so they each get something meaningful is a great idea – I’ve seen so many families fight over who gets what, and that really shouldn’t have to happen when dealing with the loss of a family member.

And I can sooo relate! Over the years my kids have broken many of the things from my Mom (she died 15 years ago) It’s a long sordid story but I got very few of her things.

I have let this drive me to making sure I have plans for my kids to have some of the meaningful things I have. So this will not happen to them!
