Snow Day!

January 13, 2012 by OneMommy

The kids have been waiting all winter for snow.  We had a slight dusting a week or so ago, and yes, I pulled them in the sled on the barely snow-covered muddy grass that day…

We’ve made paper snowmen and cotton ball snowmen, just waiting for the day we might be able to make a real snowman outside.

The weathermen predicted snow for today, so yesterday the kids searched for hidden snowflakes while they painted.  Super easy to do – I just drew a bunch of snowflakes, and even a snowman, with white crayon on white paper.  Then they used their water color paint to “find” the hidden snowflakes.

Easy and fun!

We woke today to some snow on the grass and howling winds.  It’s way too windy to go out and play today, so I’m getting creative and bringing the theme of snow into the house today.  I surprised the kids with an indoor “snowball” fight.

Socks? Not today! Today they are indoor snowballs!

The result?

Lots of giggles and they took refuge in Monkey’s closet…

Hiding didn’t stop Mommy’s snowball attack…

For our morning snack I made banana slice snowmen, complete with raisin eyes and pretzel arms.

Peanut couldn’t wait to “make her snowmen melt….” Yum!

I can’t wait until our edible snowman craft after lunch time….  I’ll be sure to share our creations with you soon!

Until then, stay warm and have a little indoor winter fun!

SO adorable! It’s way too windy/snowy to go outside here too, so maybe the girls & I will borrow your indoor snowball fight idea~ that is the cutest! Love the snowman snack as well, thanks for the great ideas!

They had fun with it – I bet they’d have been even more into it if they were a bit older and understood they were supposed to throw the snowballs back… (I had to tell them that part.)

Have fun staying inside and warm!

We had a fun day – not as much snow outside as I originally thought we’d have, but plenty of snow fun inside!

Looks like you guys had a blast today. It was freezing & windy here today too. My skin was hurting just standing at the bus stop for my girls. We rushed in and had hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Hot chocolate after being out in the cold is always the best! (add a few cookies and hmm……)

It was a pretty fun day! I had seen something similar for a snack using bamboo skeweres, but I wasn’t sure that was a good idea with my 2 year old. This was much more finger (and eyeball) friendly!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you were able to enjoy your snow… Ours is still on the ground, what little there is, but it’s just too cold for little ones to go out. Another day perhaps!
