Spam – No Good in a Can, No Good on the Computer

July 2, 2011 by OneMommy

I logged into my site the other day and was floored when I saw I had 110 new comments…  Then I realized all but 2 were spam. Some of my favorites?

“I’m out of league here. Too much brain power on dipsaly!”

“No more s***. All posts of this quailty from now on!”

“That’s not just the best asewnr. It’s the bestest answer!”

The day before I had had 34 spam comments.  I was using a plug-in to help prevent such things (it was one that asked a math question), and at first it worked, allowing maybe 1 or 2 to slip by on occasion.  But I just don’t have time to go through 110 comments each day to figure out which is spam and which is written from a valuable reader.  So I’m trying out a new plug-in – Zig Trap.

There are so many to choose from out there it is really hard to know what might work the best, and several haven’t been “tested on my version of WordPress”…  So, we’ll see how this one does.

Does anyone have a particular favorite you’d like to suggest if this one doesn’t work out in the future?

Spam stinks. I hate it when I get it.

Yeah, not a big fan of the one you cook or the kind on the computer – they both stink, like you said!

LOL. I love your spelling of answers – looks like what I get. The latest plug-in doesn’t seem to be doing too great, either…. Guess I’m off to Google an answer!
