This week the preschooler and I had fun with this simple cardboard tube bunny craft.

It makes a cute preschooler Easter craft, but it would also be fun any time of the year.

Cardboard Tube Bunny Craft

This is one of those crafts where the preschooler definitely had his own ideas!

I decided I wanted  a white rabbit, so I coated the tube with glue and wrapped white construction paper around it.  Then I drew on a face, added a cotton ball tail, and used pink paper, with a bit of ripped up cotton ball glued on, for ears.

I added one of the pipe cleaner carrots from our Easter Sensory Bin, and he was done!

The preschooler had a different bunny in mind in this kids craft.

First, he likes the color brown, so we kept the tube just as it was.  He used a marker to draw on a face, and drew lots and lots of carrots for his bunny to eat.

I helped him cut out brown ears, but he didn’t want to rip up the cotton ball to add to the ears like trim.

Nope.  He had a different idea all together.  (I love how little one’s minds work!)

He was super excited about his bunny.  And, it is the perfect reminder that “it’s the process that counts, NOT the finished product” when it comes to crafting with kids.

And the best thing about this cardboard tube bunny craft is that afterwards  we had some cute little bunnies to hop around the living room.

With school, running errands, and trying to keep the house semi-clean, it’s sometimes hard to find time to craft with the kids.

This pop-up bunny is a cute spring preschooler craft that is quick and easy to do and brings plenty of smiles.  It would also make a fun Easter craft.

Pop-Up Bunny Craft:

Materials Needed:

• 1 Styrofoam (or paper) cup
• 1 Craft Stick
• 1 Bunny Picture (I found ours online)
• Crayons
• Stickers or Markers

First make a slit in the bottom of the cup for the craft stick to poke through.  Since we used Styrofoam cups, we just pushed on the bottom with the craft stick.  If you are using a paper cup  use scissors to make this slit for your child before they start decorating.

Once the slit is made, decorate the cup with stickers and markers as desired.  

Then you use the crayons to color the bunny.   Glue it to the craft stick.

The result is a bunny that hides in the cup when you pull the craft stick down and then “pops” up out of its hole when the stick is moved up.

When we made our pop-up bunnies, there were plenty of giggles and lots of, “Guess what’s in my cup…” moments.

This simple bunny craft is sure to be a hit with the preschoolers in your life.

Looking for some bunny fun for your little one?

How about making some cute little bunny puppets?

I have the library to thank for this one!  They printed bunnies off the computer and cut them out ahead of time.  After story time the kids colored bunnies and used double-sided tape to stick them on craft sticks.

Plastic Egg Bunny Craft:

These bunnies were simple to make.  You just need plastic eggs, craft foam, and a bit of glue!

I cut out heart shapes to use as feet – make them large enough to help hold up your wobbly egg!  I also cut out ears from the craft foam.  Then I put a little hot glue on the heart feet and had each child sit there egg on the glue.  (I don’t trust them with the hot glue on their own!)  Then I dabbed a little hot glue on each side of the top of the egg for them to stick ears to.  And you can’t forget a fluffy tail!  We hot glued a small bit of cotton ball to the back.

Afterwards they used a permanent marker (I covered my table with newspaper first) to draw on faces and make toes.  The eggs still open, so they can be used to hide treats, or they may just hop around the house this weekend!

Don’t forget a healthy bunny snack!

I cut the end of a banana and split it in half to make bunny ears.  The face and body are thin slices of apple.  Raisins made little bunny eyes and the tip of a strawberry became the nose.  (I added more strawberries for the bunny to munch b/c my kids love strawberries!)  Pretzel sticks became whiskers, and since the bunny needed a tail, I ripped a marshmallow in half for a tail.  Yum!

Now I have to hop – my little bunnies are waiting for our next activity (bunny hopping races).
