These 4 DIY Halloween party games are the perfect addition to any kids Halloween party.

When it comes to a kids party, you just have to have a few good games for kids to play. 

These kids Halloween party games are easy to make and fun to play.  

Halloween Party Games

These simple DIY party games would be perfect for a kids Halloween party, an October birthday party, or even a family game night this fall. 

You can even make your own ghost pinata’ for extra family fun! 

Pin the Face on the Monster Game 

This is a fun twist on the classic pin the tail on the donkey.

To make the game, draw the outline of a very simple monster on a piece of large paper.  (I used brown packing paper.)

Draw and cut out a variety of facial features for your monster.  Make sure there are plenty of parts for party members to choose from.  The idea is to wind up with a funny monster, so it’s okay to have multiple eyes, a few horns, noses, and mouths put in a pumpkin bucket just waiting to be pinned.  You could also include a variety of arms and legs to be pinned onto the monster.

Feed the Monster DIY Ball Toss 

Take  a large packing box and cut the bottom at an angle so it leans some, making it easier for the balls to go into the hole.  (See photo below.)

Cover the front of the box with white paper, draw a monster on the paper, and cut a hole in the box for the mouth.

You can use bean bags, rolled up socks, or even plastic ball pit balls to toss into the monster’s mouth.

I drew Jack’o Lantern faces on orange balls we had left from our old ball pit and turned them into pumpkins to feed the monster.

Pop the Pumpkin Game

The night before the party, fill orange balloons with small stickers, confetti, a little glitter (optional), and Smarties candy.  The Smarties are skinny enough to slide into the balloon’s neck fairly easily.

Once the balloon is blown up, use a permanent marker to draw various faces on them.

To pop them, secure a flat thumbtack to a fly swatter with duct tape.  Be VERY careful here.  I made sure the pointy end of the tack poked through the duct tape and then wrapped tape completely around the fly swatter.

The kids will have a blast popping their pumpkins and discovering the hidden surprises.

Tape Spider Web Maze

I found the original idea for the spider web game on No Time for Flashcards.

For our version I marked one end of the spider web as “start” and the point as “end.”   The kids walked carefully on the tape lines of the web, collecting a few plastic spiders that were scattered across it as they made it to the end of the maze.

Looking for a fun and silly game to play with the kids these last days of summer before school starts back up?  

This summer game for kids is perfect for groups of 4 or more kids, and guarantees a lot of laughs!

Directions for Water Wing Fishing Relay summer game:

This game is meant to be a relay between 2 or more teams and is particularly fun with teams of 4 or more kids. (Although with a few tweaks you could play it with as little as 2 children.)

To play, you will need a set of water wings for each team, lots of plastic sea animals (check the dollar store or your own bathtub toys), and a large plastic spoon and bowl for each team.

Scatter the plastic sea animals out in the yard or driveway.

Place your large plastic bowls about 20 feet away from the plastic animals.  (For younger kids you may want to put the bowls closer, for older kids make it more of a challenge and put them further away.)

To play:  kids will take turns putting on the water wings and then using the spoon they will scoop up sea animals and bring them back to their team’s bowl.

The team with the most animals in the bowl after each child has had a turn wins!

I loved watching the kids use team work to help their teammates get into the water wings faster.

At then end of each game we pulled the sea animals out of the bowl to count them together — reinforcing counting skills for those younger ones!

End summer with a bang and throw an end of summer/start of the school year party for the kids!  Invite a few friends over and play your own round of Water Wing Fishing Relay!

The kids have been waiting all winter for snow.  We had a slight dusting a week or so ago, and yes, I pulled them in the sled on the barely snow-covered muddy grass that day…

We’ve made paper snowmen and cotton ball snowmen, just waiting for the day we might be able to make a real snowman outside.

The weathermen predicted snow for today, so yesterday the kids searched for hidden snowflakes while they painted.  Super easy to do – I just drew a bunch of snowflakes, and even a snowman, with white crayon on white paper.  Then they used their water color paint to “find” the hidden snowflakes.

We woke today to some snow on the grass and howling winds.  It’s way too windy to go out and play today, so I’m getting creative and bringing the theme of snow into the house today.  I surprised the kids with an indoor “snowball” fight.

The result?

Lots of giggles and they took refuge in Monkey’s closet…

For our morning snack I made banana slice snowmen, complete with raisin eyes and pretzel arms.

I can’t wait until our edible snowman craft after lunch time….  I’ll be sure to share our creations with you soon!

Three year olds love craft projects, so this is a “two for one”:  make a craft, have a game to play.

You will need scissors, card stock and stickers.  Simple.  It was a snowy day when we made this game, and I didn’t have card stock at home, so I used a file folder I had in my old teaching stuff (nothing beats using what you already have).  I cut it in 2″X2″ squares.  Thankfully we have plenty of stickers (a bunch left over from teaching and some new ones too).  I had enough matching My Little Pony stickers  to make 6 pairs of cards.

Peanut loved getting to place each sticker carefully on the cards.

And afterward, she had a nice set of 12 cards to play Memory, a good number to start with when you’re only three.

Another bonus of this make it yourself game:  she can make new sets as her interests change, and her brother won’t be stuck with some “girly” game when he gets bigger.
