But here we are.

Has it been all roses and dreamy looks?  No, life is not a fairy tale.  Marriage is work.  Those first 2 years were the hardest, so if you are in those early years, hang in there!  (And COMMUNICATE!  Boy, that would have saved us a few teary nights if we hadn’t worried about hurting each other’s feelings and just TALKED…)

But off my soapbox.  It’s been 8 years and 2 beautiful babies for my husband and I.  And if things work right, we’ll have a sitter tomorrow night so we can go on a date (my fingers are crossed here).I’ll take my real life over a fairy tale any day.

Today I am thankful for the many resale shops for children, like Once Upon a Child.  I have been able to find many a piece of clothing, often items with tags still on them, for wonderful prices.  My son is obsessed with cars; in the morning it is much easier to get him dressed if the shirt I have for him to wear has cars on it.  Solution?  Go to Once Upon a Child and after a short search, voila’!  Five more car shirts to add to his wardrobe, meaning more time between doing loads of laundry before we run out of the all important car shirts.

But my best find lately has to be the two Learn Through Music systems with games that I purchased for mere pennies of what they want elsewhere for them.  I bought one with 6 games for $18 and found another that didn’t have any games with it for only $5.  So, for $23 I got two of the systems and six games, a bargain since I had just seen the games alone running for $30 each.

And what really makes it for me today is the fact that I was able to do some business on the phone this morning peacefully, while both my children kept entertained and learning long enough for me to not only finish the phone call, but also get dressed.  I’m thinking tomorrow they might just buy me time for a shower… Now that’s priceless.
