When my husband and I built our house we had a whirlpool tub put in the master bathroom. Oh, how I imagined sitting in that tub a few times a week, soaking in the glorious hot water, a delightful change from the small tub with yellowish water that I was forced to bathe in at our first home.
The reality?
Once I was pregnant, the super hot water that I so love to soak in was out (not good for baby, after all). Oh, I still soaked when I could, but it wasn’t quite the same. And life with little ones certainly hasn’t given me many opportunities to just sit, soak, and maybe read a good book while just lounging in the tub.
Happily I’ve found the chance a little more often lately (at least I can remember when it was used last now) – little ones actually going (and staying) in bed early enough that I can run the water after their bedtime.
And tonight – a pre-bedtime soak, so needed this week with my husband working nights and the kids not taking quiet time the way they need to. How glorious it felt to just let the jets run, drowning out the background noise, reading a couple chapters in a book without pictures… And stepping out, hearing my husband tell the kids it was time to pick up before bedtime.
I am so thankful for that much needed “me time.”
What are you thankful for this week?

Well, my son’s been sick, so I’m really grateful that he’s feeling better, but right now, all I can think about is your hot tub! I’m envious! 😉

I hope your little guy continues to feel better. There is some yucky stuff going around here… Just trying to avoid it at all costs! (Maybe another soak in the tub will keep the doctor away… 🙂 )

I love a good bath! Sooo very relaxing!
I am thankful for my parents watching my girls so my husband and I could go away to FL to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Soaking in the whirlpool tub sounds so wonderful! Glad you got your me time! Right now I’m too swamped with work to do much for myself…actually a freelance project that ends on Feb 16. So Feb 17 will be all about me time for me 🙂

It’s so hard to find that time, isn’t it? LOL. Hope Feb. 17 finds you plenty of time to just relax!

It is so hard to find the time. It seems like a relaxing, quiet bath is the only time I get a chance to think. My kids still run in and chat or tattletale even when Daddy is home. “What’s Daddy doing?” “He doesn’t care.” “Please leave me alone.”

Oh, yes, they always find Mommy, even if Daddy is home. I’m always telling them, “You have another parent….”

I am a bath girl, too. A shower is just not the same. Definitely have to make it a point to use it more often now that the kids go to sleep and stay in bed (usually).
