Thankful Thursday for the 5th of July

July 4, 2012 by OneMommy

Happy Thankful Thursday!

It has been a hot, hot week around here.  And tempers have flared a bit more, probably due at least in some part to that heat…

But there is always something to be thankful for.

This week I am thankful for:

  1. Being born in a country so full of freedom and opportunity.  I may not agree with every decision our government officials make (Oh, I definitely don’t), but here we have the freedom to disagree and vote in someone new when the time comes.
  2. The fact that my husband had the 4th off, and didn’t have to be on-call, either, allowing him to relax some and enjoy his day off.
  3. A/C.  It has been 100 degrees here more than a couple days so far this summer, and it’s still early in the season!  Shwew!
  4. Our power didn’t go off this past week when we had winds of 60+ miles an hour.  (Look back at #3.)

You’re turn!  Leave a comment and tell me what you’re thankful for this week.  Or, if you did your own Thankful Thursday post, go ahead and link up!

I don’t have a thankful Thursday post, but I’m thankful for the lovely blue skies we’ve had this week (along with minus five degree mornings), and I’m thankful for the school holidays. It is so nice to slow down and just relax. And I’m thankful to be thankful for school holidays, because thus time last year sibling rivalry was at an all time high and holidays were not such a joy!

Oh, holidays with siblings fighting make school holidays no fun!
Blue skies can always make things seem better! 🙂

    Today I’m very thankful:

1.) To be blessed to live in a country where there are opportunities that are not readily available in other countries.
2.) That it rained at my house 2 days in a row.
3.) That I finished a project that I had to redo because I hated it so much.
4.) That the 4th of July was pretty tranquil even though I missed having more kids around.
5.) That I have a wonderful husband who didn’t let me forget the appointment to have a filling at the dentist today.
6.) That I have nice grandchildren who are considerate of others.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m a very fortunate person to have so much for which to be grateful. 🙂

Rain 2 days in a row sounds wonderful about now.
And you DO have great grandchildren! 🙂

Lovely thoughts. Today I am grateful for rain. We have several wildfires in our state and this will help. Plus, it smells wonderful!

Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from SITS.

Rain is defiitely something to be thankful for this summer – it’s been so hot and dry!
I hope the rain is helpful!

Oh man, I wish we had AC! This heat is crazy… but I am thankful for beaches. 🙂

If you don’t have A/C, a beach is the next best thing! 🙂

Nice gratitude list. I am grateful to live in this magnificent country. I’m grateful to God for putting me here. And I’m grateful to my ancestors for moving to America, enduring the hardships they did.

Beautifully said. Never thought of it, but if my ancestors hadn’t made the long journey, I guess I’d be somewhere else right now!
