Thankful Thursday Haikus

October 20, 2011 by OneMommy

I’m giving today’s Thankful Thursday post a creative twist, thanks to Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. Mama’s Losin’ It

Here are a few of the things I’m thankful for this week, in Haiku form:

Leaves changing colors

A beautiful sight each year

God’s artwork for us

Playing trains with my son

Didn’t know it’d be so fun

Fall days are too short

Fancy tea party

Time with kids goes way too fast

Sugar, please, Mommy

Blanket, cookies, and

Reading a good book before

The kids wake up – sigh.

Want to give it a try?  What are you thankful for this week?  Bonus if you can put it in a Haiku!  (Come  on, get in touch with that inner poet!)

You are a haiku star! I’m thankful for the sunny fall days we get to spend playing at the park.

LOL – I don’t know if I’m a star, but thanks! Sunny days are wonderful for playing at the park… I miss them right now with the past few cold, rainy days we’ve had stuck inside.

You challenged my creative spirit so here goes:

    Supportive husband
    Truly a gift from God
    Thirty-one great years!

    Amazing daughters
    Each with a unique spirit
    Loved no matter what!

    Three grandchildren…Joy!
Thank God daily for the gift
    They fill up my life!

    Love, friends, happiness
    Grateful for so many gifts
    The future looks bright!

I absolutely love all of your Haikus! 31 years is a blessing I hope to one day be able to say we’ve had together in our marriage… Something truly to be thankful for. Glad I inspired someone’s creative side!

I remember when my son was into Thomas the Train. He loved those things. Now he thinks they are baby toys. But he still loves regular trains.

We are just getting into Thomas… They grow up way too fast, don’t they?

    Cooler weather now
    Travel to Colorado
    Book club with the girls

    Missing all my boys
    Seeing family and friends
    Returning home soon

I loved your haikus, so I thought I’d give it a shot! Great post.

You’ve got great haikus, too! Cooler weather is nice… and we were lucky to have a good color change on the leaves this year.

    I am thankful for…
The rays of sun shining through the clouds
God’s smile finding a way to those of us on earth
looking for the warmth on our skin and our hearts
