Thankful Thursday – The World of Blogging

March 17, 2011 by OneMommy

Is it Thursday already?  This week’s Thankful Thursday post is dedicated to all of you, my readers, and those I’ve met these past few months in the land of blogging.

I love being a SAHM.  There is one thing I miss about work, though:  adult interaction.  Yes, I can call people on the phone during the day, but have you really tried to have a conversation on the phone with a three year old and 1 ½ year old trying to get your attention?  And since most of the people I’d call during the day are in the same boat, so to speak, those conversations don’t tend to last very long or be very in depth.  And of course I have my husband to talk to in the evening, after the kids are in bed (again, hard to have a real conversation when they are around), but how many times can you tell someone about their own kids?  And girls’ night outs have been really, really rare —

Blogging has allowed me to share stories about my kids, the frustrations of parenting as well as the joys, and even a little about married life.  Not only do I get to use my love of writing to share with my readers, but I’ve also gotten to read and comment on blogs from all over the world (cool in itself to be able to have contact with people all over the U.S. and in other countries as well).  This past week I was even more blessed by receiving a package of beautiful hair accessories after leaving a comment on Adventures in Wonderland.  My daughter has claimed them; she had to wear them all at once! toddler with lots of bows (Check out Meghan’s etsy store, where you can find more precious gift ideas.)

And then there are the different blog networks, with different forums and communities where you can meet and interact with an even larger number of people.  (To check out my Blog Frog community, click the tab above or the frog widget on the right.)  I love to check out different blogs I find there and join in different discussions.  Sometimes they’re about kids, sometimes housework, finances, the weather; you never know what you might stumble upon.

So thank you, dear readers, and the whole world of blogging, for giving me a chance to share with you and for allowing me a little “adult conversation” via the Internet.

I just joined the SAHM ranks last November – and if it weren’t for my internet interaction I think I would have gone nuts by now!

I’m fairly new to blogging myself and have really been enjoying it too! It can be very solitary at times staying home with kids, that’s why I joined mother’s groups. But with two it was much harder! I’m glad you found blogging to give you a little grown-up connection! Take care!

Sometimes I think the internet was the only thing that kept me going when I was a SAHM. I went back to work in August, which is a whole new adjustment. I’m glad you found blogs and Blog Frog to keep you busy through this time you spend at home with the kids. It can be lonely.

I’m a SAHM, too. I think I would go crazy just like Nina said if it weren’t for the internet. I try to schedule a playdate with friends at least once a week, and that sure helps!

I’d like to thank you as well! I’m also a SAHM & the biggest downfall of that has been losing my adult interaction. I also feel completely isolated at home & blogging has given me not only an outlet, but a voice & interaction as well. Without the internet I think I’d lose my mind!
