The Night of the New Year

December 31, 2012 by OneMommy

It’s the night of the New Year

and I’ve finally sat down.

I can’t believe, once again,

another year has gone ’round.

My children, tucked in,

each in a toddler bed,

while I’ve got this post,

rattling away in my head.

Last year at this time,

my son was just two.

In the blink of an eye,

this year, it just flew.

From just pushing cars,

to invisible friends:

his new sense of imagination

seems to know no end.

And then there’s my Peanut,

my, how she’s grown!

Always investigating,

figuring things out on her own.

Come fall there will be school,

how can that be?

Doesn’t the world know

she’s still a baby to me?

Yes,  time keeps on ticking,

the years fly right by.

And they keep growing up,

no matter how hard I try…

So tonight as we say goodbye

to one more year.

I hope to have many more,

with the ones I hold dear.

***

May you each have many more years with those you hold dear.

And may you each have a very Happy New Year!

What a cute poem! I also love your last post of the Christmas card ornaments. I think I am going to try that next year! Love it! Thanks for sharing and happy new year to you and yours!

Thank you. Have fun making your ornaments! (I actually saved all of last year’s cards, just waiting to make them this year.)

So sweet!!! Yes…they change every moment of every day, don’t they? My babies are almost 7 and 9. It’s all a blurr…
    Happy New Year! 🙂

      Yes, they really do!
I am having so much trouble accepting the fact that my 5 year old will be in kindergarten this time next year.

I see every day the things my kids can do now that they couldn’t do a year ago…
