The Present Man

February 1, 2011 by OneMommy

Each day when I rock my son to sleep for his nap I give my 3 year old daughter something quiet to do at the kitchen table.  Sometimes its coloring with markers, sometimes its a puzzle, sometimes its listening to a book recording… Once my son is asleep, I join her in the activity.

Today, as we finished putting one of her princess puzzles together, I asked her if she had any ideas what we should get Daddy for his birthday.  At first she was confused, telling me the present was  in the garage (my birthday was last week and he had hidden my present in the garage).  Once I explained that that had been Mommy’s gift and now we needed one for Daddy she took a minute to think.  Then she said, “Maybe the present man will bring something!”  I tried hard not to laugh and asked her what the present man looks like.  She said, “He drives a big truck.”  I’m pretty sure she was talking about the UPS man – who did deliver presents we had ordered online at Christmas time…  But I have to admit, if I could just call the “present man” and the perfect gift would be delivered…that would be pretty cool.
