To All the Great Moms – Thank You!

May 5, 2011 by OneMommy

Mother’s Day is coming up. Today I’d like to give thanks to all the wonderful moms out there. Go on, you know who you are; give yourself a pat on the back. Find a moment to enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever is to your liking. Sit back and cherish each of those little moments we all too often overlook because we are busy trying to clean up the dishes, catch up on the laundry, or rush someone to school.

I hope each of you has a splendid Mother’s Day.

I’d like to take a quick moment to recognize some of the outstanding mother’s I’m lucky enough to personally know:

1. My own mother (you have to put your mom first in a list like this, right?), who drove me to and from gymnastics practice all through high school, made it to all the home meets, sat through countless orchestra concerts, and pushed me to be the best I could be.

2. My sister, mother of three, who holds a daycare of wild toddlers and preschoolers in her home so she can be with her youngest child. She is another person who sends me wonderful hand-me-downs for my own son; she continually does way more than any one person should handle at once, and yet just yesterday she took the time to help me with a small personal matter in the middle of it all.

3. My mother-in-law, who raised a wonderful son, who became a wonderful father.

4. My bestest friend in the whole wide world, E., who tries her best each day to take her 3 energetic kids some place…. How do you have the energy, I’ll never know! LOL. And another friend, S., who takes her daughter to work each day; it’s hard enough to be a SAHM, I can’t imagine also trying to get work done with an energetic, creative preschooler on hand. And so many mothers I used to teach with, each of you has been an inspiration!

There are so many more I could name…. After all, what better way to become a good mother than to surround yourself with other great mothers?

What great mothers do you know?

I wasn’t blessed to have a relationship with my mom as an adult but my mother-in-law is the best ever! She has always been there to listen to me and support me as an adult for which I am eternally grateful!

We have three moms to celebrate and I get to celebrate this year too! I was hugely pregnant last year on mother’s day, so I’m very much looking forward to it this year!

So true. I love that my kids get to know both sets of grandparents and see them fairly often. And I love the fact my FIL actually reads my blog posts!

Thanks for swooping by my blog & commenting. I love what you said about preferring to have five people read your blog as opposed to 200 followers who don’t. (-: I don’t know what to tell you re. your husband worrying more about his mom than the mom of his kids – my mother-in-law lives in Ireland and they have their own Mother’s Day on a different day altogether (which he never remembers anyway) but still, I don’t have that particular issue (riddled w. others though…)! Look forward to reading your blog.
