Want to Hear a Gecko?

February 12, 2011 by OneMommy

I’ve really been meaning to get back to that cleaning house topic… I’ve done a little research into what SHOULD be cleaned on a daily, weekly, monthly, etc. basis.  And the good news is I’m getting MOST of what is suggested done each week. I can’t say I have any solutions yet, or a working schedule… And, currently, looking around my house, I feel pretty overwhelmed. I have 4 loads of laundry waiting to be folded and toys cover the living room floor. Sure, I probably could be using this time to pick some of it up, but I need this computer time to maintain my sanity levels since my dear husband is working all weekend until way past the kiddos’ bedtimes.  So, I promise to work on that post this week.

Today I need a little humor, so I’ll share a little something from my daughter:

My daughter was playing quietly  yesterday when I heard her talking, “Sometimes I hear geckos in the garage.”  Intrigued, I started listening more closely to her playing.  “Geckos sound like this…” (This was followed by her whispering “gecko, gecko”.)

“Are you talking about lizards, Peanut?”

“A chameleon is a lizard, Mommy.”

“Yes…”

“You hear geckos…”

This is when it finally dawned on me what she was talking about, “Echoes…I think you mean echoes, Sweetie.  Geckos are little lizards; you hear echoes sometimes.”

I thought she had it all straight until her daddy came home.  “Daddy, want to hear a gecko?” she asked as she opened the basement door and called “boo” into the darkness.

Guess we’ll work on that one some more another day…

Hahaha!!! That was much needed comic relief! I just saw your introduction on Bloggy Moms and thought I would pay you a visit. I’m looking forward to following your posts. I was in education for quite sometime, and then private practice, and now I have a parent ed website to occupy my mommy brain! Love meeting other moms and yes, you should join Twitter. So many great bloggy moms out there and it’s a great way to connect and stay in touch.

Awww, that’s so sweet! We absolutely love when our daughter has these moments.

My daughter often says, “I’m not cold because I’m all bungled up in this blanket”. She means bundled. Very cute. She also says ‘yesternight’ instead of last night. We don’t correct her!

Found you through SITS thread, and now your newest follower. Please come by my place! I’ll be back.
