If you’ve been on pinterest you’ve probably seen countless liquid starch slime recipes.  

This simple homemade googly eye slime takes just minutes to make and will have your kids playing in no time.

This slime with googly eyes is on of my daughter’s favorite Halloween STEM activities.  

You could skip the googly eyes and add in orange and black glitter or Halloween sequins for another version of a fun DIY Halloween slime.

Googly Eye Slime

Materials Needed:

• Liquid Starch (like Sta-Flo)
• Liquid Craft Glue  (We used white,  glitter glue would be fun, too!)
• Water
• Googly Eyes
• Measuring Cup
• 2 Cups (to mix ingredients in)
• 1 Craft Stick (for stirring)

To make your Halloween slime, mix 1/2 cup (4 oz.) warm water and 1/2 cup (4 oz.) glue together in a small container.  We used disposable cups, but you can use any container, just be sure to wash it thoroughly afterwards.

After you have thoroughly mixed the water and glue together, set it aside.  

Shake the liquid starch to make sure it is well mixed.  Then open the container and measure 1/2 cup (4 oz.) of liquid starch and pour it into your second container.

Slowly pour the glue mixture into the liquid starch, stirring it as you go.  Make sure you get all the glue out of the container.

Use the craft stick to stir it until it starts to look like slime.  

Add in googly eyes and continue mixing the slime by hand.  

It may seem watery at first, but the consistency of the slime will continue to improve the more you play with it.

If you’re like me and have a child that doesn’t like getting messy, or doesn’t like the feel of slime, they can still enjoy the activity.  

Put the slime in a zippered bag and let them squish and explore it that way.  (This is the way my son opted to play with the slime.)  It is still a fun sensory experience.

Your slime will last at least a week if stored in a zippered bag.

Tips for Googly Eyes Slime 

• The liquid starch recipe above makes enough for 2 kids to have a fair amount to play with.
• Elmer’s glue worked best for us, but dollar store glue also worked.  Just be sure to use a new bottle (the glue must be runny).  We had a bottle of dollar store glue that had gotten thick, and it was a complete slime fail.
