I also hate the phrase, “Are you stupid?” I went to a client’s home to do family photos and the kids were fooling around. The dad got visibly upset when the boys did a few naughty things and he asked them several times if they were stupid. I cringed every time I heard it because if they keep hearing that, they’ll really think that they’re stupid, which is far from the truth.

I so agree with you. ‘What’s wrong with you?’ is one of those questions we ask of children because we’ve long forgotten what childhood felt like. And he is 5,so he’s changing again. Childhood is a difficult time for controlling our emotions.
